Geoffrey Hughes has been selected as one of 24 Dean’s Graduate Fellows for 2018-19. Geoff will receive a one-year $4,000 top-up and a $1,000 summer stipend for his dissertation research. Congratulations to Geoff and thanks to Anna for nominating him.

Anna Agbe-Davies—as part of a 12-person international research collaborative (Digital Edition Publishing Cooperative for Historical Accounts)—has been awarded a $99,036 grant from the Mellon Foundation to develop a platform for the semantic modeling and digitization of accounting texts.  This research is related to Anna’s work with the Cameron Family papers and the Stagville Plantation.

National Geographic Society has awarded a $102,855 grant to Patricia A. McAnany of UNC’s InHerit. The grant provides funding for educational programs on The Cultural Heritage, Ecology, and Conservation of Yucatec Cenotes and will be coordinated by Dr. Dylan Clark, the new Program Director for InHerit.
