Further achievements by our students:

Bryan Dougan has been awarded a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Award for his research project entitled “Care in the City: Psychiatry in an era of Global Health & Urbanization in Tanzania.”

Kailey Rocker, a cultural anthropologist in the sixth year of her anthropological doctoral program at UNC, presented a talk on October 7, 2019 titled “Telling the Truth through Mise-en-scene: The Art of Translating the Recent Past in Post-Socialist Albania” at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Kailey was participating in the colloquium series hosted by UBC’s Institute for European Studies, where she is currently a visiting scholar. Her talk was based on her dissertation research in Albania, which looks at contemporary efforts to confront the socialist period.

Further achievements by our faculty:

Brian Billman has been appointed to the Art Advisory Committee.

Towns Middleton has won a Senior Fellowship from the American institute of Indian Studies to support his work on quinine in India for 2020.
