Further achievements by our students:

  • Eric Thomas has been awarded a Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
  • Ana Ramirez has been awarded a 3-year Ford Pre-doctoral Fellowship.
  • Achsah Dorsey received the Richard Bland Fellowship from the Professional Pathways Program to support her summer internship validating digital biomarkers of perinatal stress in female carriers of Fragile X syndrome with RTI International

Further achievements by our faculty:

Ben Arbuckle has been awarded the following internal grants: 1) $1440 course development grant from the Center for Asian Studies to revise ANTH149 and add content on Asia. Ben will hire a grad student to put together new lectures dealing with East, SE and South Asian archaeology including Lapita expansion, Indus Civilization, and Shang China; 2) As part of OUR’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Ben’s Zooarchaeology course was accepted as a CURE (Carolina Undergrad Research Experience) course. This award comes with $1k for supplies, $1k for a GRC, and possibly 2 more years of GRC funding; and 3) finally (less exciting) Ben received $1.4k for a faculty research travel grant from the Carolina Center for the Study of the Middle East to support work at a new cave site in Northern Turkey.
