Archaeology of the Southeastern United States, the Tennessee Valley of Northern Alabama, and Newfoundland-Labrador, Canada; hunter-gatherers, materiality, identity and gender, exploratory data analysis, biaorchaeology, forensic anthropology and human rights, and the anthropology of warfare.

Research & Activities:

My research concerns the use of mortuary ritual in community-building efforts, human osteology, paleopathology, bioarchaeology, and materiality. I am currently trying my hand at tying these topics together for a dissertation on  Archaic period (10,000 – 3,000 B.P.) hunter-gatherer communities in the Middle Tennessee River Valley of northern Alabama.
