Gender, Law, and the Problem of Culture: Maasai Struggles for Gender Justice

Dr. Dorothy Hodgson, Professor of Anthropology, and Dean Emerita of the School of Arts and Sciences at Brandeis University, is a renowned anthropologist who has conducted research in Tanzania for more than 40 years. She has authored or edited 10 books and numerous articles on gender, ethnicity, colonialism, and indigenous rights movements. She has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, Fulbright-Hays, and many others. She has served as president of the African Studies Association and is currently editor-in-chief of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia on African Women’s History.
