July 24, 2024 University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Professor Emeritus of Anthropology Donald “Don” Nonini, PhD was recently featured in the Endeavors magazine to highlight his new book Food Activism Today: Sustainability, Climate Change, and Social Justice.” The book, co-written by Professor Emeritus of Anthropology within the UNC College of Arts and Sciences Dorothy “Dottie” Holland, focuses on Carolina food activists and how they organize and implement alternatives to industrial agriculture.

Titled “The Faces Behind Our Food,” the article chronicles Nonini’s interest in the global food system and local activism from his early travels to Malaysia to his exploration of local politics and democracy with Holland at UNC to his book spotlighting homegrown remedies for creating sustainable food communities.
