Research & Activities:
My dissertation project broadly examines the (re)production and meanings of the German colonial past for Namibian Ovaherero. My research was conducted within the context of 2004 commemorations in Namibia about the Herero Genocide/German-Herero war of 1904 as well as the on-going efforts by some Namibian Ovaherero to seek restorative justice with the German government. I am particularly interested in how Human Rights, as institutions and vocabularies, intersects with Herero and national memories/histories about the German colonial past.
