Georginia Drew

Professional Background:

Georgina  (Gina) Drew is a  Ph.D.  Candidate in the Anthropology department at UNC. She holds M.A. degrees in Anthropology and International Relations. Her interests include the anthropology of water, gendered dynamics of natural resource management, social movements, and visual anthropology. She has worked on documentary films in India and through Duke's Center for Documentary Studies. Before joining the anthropology department at UNC, Gina worked in affiliation with various non-governmental organizations in the Unites States, Mexico, and India. Her M.A. theses and publications address issues such as water rights, the commodification/ privatization of nature, and aspects of community-based natural resource management. Gina's dissertation research explores the gendered dynamics of ecological change along the primary tributary of the Ganges River with a focus on women's participation in attempts to address development and climate change in the Himalayas.
