Graduate Student Geoffrey Hughes has been named Field Director for an archaeological project conducting excavations and research at the 1766 Builders House in Old Salem.  He applied for the highly competitive Richard Bland Fellowship and was chosen from among the applicants for his high-quality scholarship.  This is especially significant in that the site will be a focal point for Old Salem’s 250th Anniversary coming in 2016.

Geoffrey will be leading a team of two other field crew members.  All three will conduct their work under Old Salem’s Director of Archaeology, Dr. Mo Hartley.

We congratulate Geoffrey on his excellent accomplishment and look forward to learning what his field work will uncover!
